Recent comments by Bill Maher acknowledging that it is ok to murder unborn babies because we have too many people on planet earth. Here is what he said, “They think it's murder, and it kind of is. I'm just ok with that. I am, I mean, there's 8 billion people in the world. I'm sorry, we won't miss you. That's my position on it.” This kind of thinking is clear evidence of someone who is more concerned about the created world and who makes themselves to be their own god. In short, he has become his own idol, not unlike how many people think today.
Idol worship of oneself is a dangerous sin according to God's Word. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.” (Romans 1:18-19, 22-23,28,32)
Anyone who thinks along the same lines as Bill Maher is in grave danger of spending eternity in hell experiencing utter torment and agony. You think you can mock God without any consequences; however, “you are actually storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart.” (Romans 2:5)
