Are You Guilty of Murder? -- part two

It is clear from our last blog that most of us are guilty of murder according to God's Word. This should illicit a pricking of our conscience at some level, or at least get us to pursue a different line of thinking. If this did not prick your conscience or you are indifferent to this, you need not read any further. But if you were awakened somewhat and your desire is to fear God and keep His commandments, then continue reading. We have many examples of murder that play out in the news everyday. Let's take a closer look at the Presidents of Harvard (Claudine Gay), MIT (Sally Kornbluth}, and the University of Pennsylvania (Liz Magill). These three women are in agreement with the genocide of the Jewish race as seen by their recent comments. Being in such leadership roles, this is tantamount to the hate crimes that we have in this country. More importantly, they are guilty of murder according to God's Word, as stated in Part 1 of this blog series (Matthew 5:21-22). The most egregious observation was that these three women demonstrated no remorse whatsoever. Their response should have mimicked the response of the Jewish people when the Apostle Peter levied a charge of murder against them for murdering Christ. Acts 2:37, “Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?” The answer is repent, and understand that our sin is an affront to a holy and righteous God. We are to love God with all our whole heart, soul, and strength. We are to fear God, for He is a holy and wrathful God who can send both body and soul into hell.

To reinforce the fact that envy and anger without cause, or any good cause, are gateways to murder refer to the account of the chief priests, Pontious Pilate, and Barabbas. Mark 15:7ff, “The man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection. For (Pilate) was aware that the chief priests had handed Jesus over because of envy. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead of Jesus. Pilate said to them, 'Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?' They shouted back, 'Crucify Him!'” Many of you reading this may say “I would never murder Jesus, the Son of God,” and sadly most of us if given the opportunity would do just that. The absolute truth of God's Word will expose particular sins such as envy, malice, fornication, self love, lies, and hatred to that which is good and righteous. Any of these aforementioned sins are born of the devil. The Jewish people, and many of us, would rather have an insurrectionist and murderer released out of prison and kill Christ, the Son of God, because we love our self and sins too much.

We know that the devil was a murderer and hater of man from the beginning as stated in John 8:44. This was evidenced by the fact that the devil tempted Eve to eat fruit from the forbidden tree the Lord had commanded them not to eat from, which brought sin and death into the world. We know that God made man with an inherent understanding of truth, as stated in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that we are without excuse.” Just look around, everyone is desirous of truth in all areas of our society. The problem is that the standard for truth is based upon opinion, half truths, polls, human intellect, etc., and not the “gold standard” of God's Word. You can find numerous political, educational and societal opinions on any subject matter across an array of social and media platforms today. Logically speaking, if everyone says they want truth then why are we not seeking the “gold standard” of truth found in the Word of God? The major reason is that we are self absorbed in our own opinions and pleasing others and care not what God thinks. If your standard of truth is not based upon the “gold standard” of God's Word, then you are of your father the devil, the father of lies, who's end is agony and torment for all of eternity.
